Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

A warm, comforting soup that's been in the family for generations. Perfect for cold days or whenever someone needs a little pick-me-up.

Prep: 20 min Cook: 45 min Total: 65 min Serves: 6
Ingredients
1 whole chicken (about 4 lbs)
3 medium carrots, sliced
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 large onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups egg noodles
8 cups chicken broth
Salt, pepper, and fresh parsley to taste
Instructions
1 Place the whole chicken in a large pot and cover with chicken broth. Bring to a boil.
2 Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, skimming any foam from the surface.
3 Remove the chicken and let it cool. Shred the meat and discard the bones and skin.
4 Add the carrots, celery, onion, and garlic to the broth. Simmer for 10 minutes.
5 Add the egg noodles and cook for another 8 minutes until tender.
6 Return the shredded chicken to the pot. Season with salt and pepper.
7 Ladle into bowls and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot.
